Universal Wear Tester, is designed to measure the wear and abrasion resistance of fabric applied to clothing, footwear, and industries. Besides, the Stoll Quartermaster Universal Wear Tester complies with ASTM D3514/D3885/D3886, AATCC 119/120, etc.
Universal Wear Tester, also named Stoll Quartermaster Universal Wear Tester, is a multiple-functional testing device for determining the wear and abrasion resistance of various materials. Furthermore, the tested materials refer to many industries, such as fabrics, yarns, cords plastic films, rubber, leather, paper, and so on. The universal wear tester tests the abrasion properties of materials for flat, curved, edged, and folded edges, as well as resistance to abrasion, sealing, and pilling.
TESTEX universal wear tester supplies with surface abrasion head (inflated diaphragm method) and Flex abrasion head as well as necessary weights and blades. Besides, accessories are available on request for conducting frosting, pilling, and edge abrasion tests.
Universal wear tester (UWT for short, stoll universal wear tester) is fitted with a built-in timer and mechanical cycle counter. Moreover, its consistent motor speed provides 120 double strokes per minute with a stroke length of 25 mm (1 inch), which ensures the stability of the test instrument. In addition, the improved air injection system for more uniform inflation of the diaphragm is used in surface abrasion testing, and a superior clamping mechanism for repeatable specimen tension.
The specimen and the abrasive are mounted on the fixture on the instrument, loaded with the specified load, and the specimen is tested with the specified stroke and speed, and the specimen is checked for wear after a certain number of tests, or the number of times when the specimen is worn out (worn through), in order to assess the abrasion resistance of the specimen and the surface pilling situation, and for the improvement of the fabric process for reference.
